What Helped a Family Member with MS

How is my family affected by this theory?

Ten months after my family member was diagnosed with MS he took 90% of the wheat out of his diet. He still has somethings with it, and added the supplements. It was about 45 days later we noticed he did not have the black circles under his eyes anymore. He lost 15 lbs and foot drop really went away. He would exercise for 1/4 mile at about 2.4 mph before the changes and within 45 days he was going over a mile at 3.5mph. At the slower speed he would foot drop after every second or third step...afterward he would only foot drop maybe once the whole night!! It is not a cure..he still has had some increase in fatigue and bladder control but no large relapses in almost 3 years ( ;
Right now we are focusing on why his D is boarder line deficient even after taking 1400 IU daily. He scored 33.7 on a normal scale of 32-100 and it should not be this low after taking this much D2. So he has added D3 to his regime in addition to D2. We will retest and find out if this helps. If it does not we can look a sublingual spray of D3 or a breakdown of this vitamin. Maybe if we can find answers to why his levels are where they are after taking mega quantities of these vitamins it will help improve his over all health.

I know my family member's results in the last few weeks do NOT prove my theory but they do give it further credibility. If you found this theory thought provoking then please go to your doctor and ask about Getting Tested.

If you are interested in some of the changes that were made 3 years ago. Please bring up the following information to your physician to find out if it might help you.

When his neurologist made the diagnosis of MS he said there was no connection to Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) with foods, vitamins or allergies. He just said to take Rebif. After 9 months and 3 relapses things were not good. The diet was changed to take out the gluten from his person's diet.  He also took a multivitamin, 800 IU Vit D, ALA & Fish oil (protects CNS) both to reduce inflammation. w/in 45 days there was a change. Lost 15 lbs, went 1 mph faster for a mile longer (could only do 1/4 mile 6 months prior) all withOUT foot drop. This october it has been 3 years since the last relapse!! I am not trying to say this is a cure but he sure has slowed the progression of the disease.
* Note he never went off rebif.

So this would be my suggestion to someone who has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease like MS or RA:
1. If you have been diagnosed with MS see an allergist to make sure your immune system is not on the offense against your body even when you are not ill.

2. Take a multivitamin (Mega Greens or Greensplus.com), vitamin D3 (this is hard to find in most multivitamins because they just have D2), as well as extra B  complex vitamins(B2,B5, B6, B9, B12,etc).

3. B12 taken as an injection or sprayed under tongue can reduce nerve pain. Enzymes make it useless to take it orally that is why you have to take such high dosages if you take it orally as prescribed by you doctor.

4. Fish oil, Alpha Lipotic Acid(ALA) and Alpha Linolenic Acid (Flaxseed oil pills), nuts & B complex vitamins can help protect your CNS and or reduce inflammation.  **NOTE it is very important you take fish oil with vitamins A, D3, E and K as they are fat soluble. This means they need fat for you body to break them down and use them.

5. Vitamins you should be taking while on steroids to counteract what they leach from your body. IE Vitamin D and Calcium, etc

6. Increase your fiber, digestive enzymes and probiotics to combat future constipation & eat extra protein to combat fatigue. Plus, probiotics and prebiotics (good gut bacteria) actually produce vitamins like K2, active form of K, as well as B12, etc. Note as people age they naturally produce less digestive enzymes and hormones that will reduce absorption and aid in the negative effects of the aging process.

7. Look into a product like GNC: Digestive Health Powder. It contains prebiotics, probiotics and digestive enzymes that help breakdown and absorb the nutrients from your food better. All your organs improve especially the largest one that takes more vitamins. Plus, it has fiber which is good for keeping your intestinal nerves strong enough to pass fecal matter even as some nerves are being damaged.

Bacteria and Eczema: Eczema is an Immune System Disorder (atropy), and 75% of your Immune System is found in your Gastrointestinal Tract where 3 to 4 pounds of bacteria reside. You may not have eczema but 75% of your immune system in your gut does effect you

8. Read the European MS website & see their recommended diet.

9. Decrease the stress in your life and exercise.

10. Do not feel helpless there are things like the above that might help you. Knowledge is empowering. So research the disease and countermeasures for yourself.
